Sluggish start by U.S. men results in draw

CARY, N.C., April 11 (UPI) -- The U.S. Men's National Team had a 1-1 draw with Jamaica Tuesday in one of its final friendly matches before the June World Cup tournament in Germany.

U.S. coach Bruce Arena is expected to release a 35-man World Cup player pool on Wednesday. From the pool, on May 2, the manager will select 23 players who will make the trip to Germany for the World Cup.

In Tuesday's match, Teafore Bennett ran through the U.S. defense to give Jamaica a 1-0 edge. Jermaine Hue dribbled the ball up to midfield and sent a through pass to Bennett.

Ben Olsen, of D.C. United, tied the match in the 27th minute for the Americans. Landon Donovan ignited the goal by quickly sending a free kick in the direction of Olsen.

The U.S. had 11 corner kicks, but only managed three total shots on goal.
