NHL: Carolina 4, Washington 3

WASHINGTON, April 8 (UPI) -- Justin Williams scored two of Carolina's three short-handed goals Friday night as the Hurricanes edged the Washington Capitals, 4-3.

Eric Staal and Kevyn Adams also scored; Frantisek Kaberle, Aaron Ward, Doug Weight, Cory Stillman and Rod Brind'Amour had assists; while goalie Cam Ward made 39 saves for the Hurricanes (51-20-6), who pulled even with idle Ottawa for the most points in the Eastern Conference at 108.

Dainius Zubrus had three assists on goals by Jeff Halpern, Shaone Morrisonn and Brian Willsie; while Olaf Kolzig turned away 28 shots in goal for the Capitals (25-39-12), who have played and lost to the Hurricanes three times in a row.
