France still kicking in Davis Cup

PAU, France, April 8 (UPI) -- The duo of Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra kept France alive in its Davis Cup quarterfinal tie against Russia Saturday.

Clement-Llodra held on to beat Dmitry Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny, 6-3, 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 5-7, 6-2, in a match that took nearly four hours. It was the first win for the French, who would have been beaten, 3-0, with a loss on Saturday in the best-of-five set.

In Sunday's reverse singles, it will be Nikolay Davydenko against Richard Gasquet and Marat Safin meets Arnaud Clement.

Russia needs one win to advance to the semifinals against either Chile or the United States.
