ANAHEIM, Calif., April 7 (UPI) -- Niko Kapanen scored a pair of goals in helping Dallas to a 5-3 victory over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim that clinched the Pacific Division title for the Stars.
Dallas goaltender Marty Turco made 32 saves -- 15 in the third period -- as the Stars broke a three-game losing streak.
Kapanen had the third score in a 3-goal Dallas charge over a 5:22-span of the second period. Jussi Jokinen scored on a Dallas power play to open the run and 1:24 later Antti Miettinen slipped a defection past Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere. Kapanen capped the run off a pass from Stu Barnes to make the score 4-2.
Anaheim pulled back within one goal with 2 minutes left in the period when Joffrey Lupul scored but Turco's goaltending kept the Ducks out the rest of the way.
Kapanen's second goal of the night was an empty-netter with 39 seconds left.
Anaheim led 2-1 after one period. The Ducks' Rob Niedermayer scored at the 8:01 mark but Niklas Hagman tied it up for Dallas. Andy McDonald put Anaheim back up with his 30th goal of the season 45 seconds before the first intermission.
