NHL: Chicago 3, Detroit 2 (OT)

DETROIT, April 1 (UPI) -- Patrick Sharp scored the game-winning goal in overtime Friday night as the Chicago Blackhawks surprised Detroit, 3-2.

Former Red Wing Martin Lapointe and Mark Cullen also scored; Kyle Calder, Patrick Sharp, Dustin Byfuglien, James Wisniewski and Duncan Keith had assists; and goalie Nikolai Khabibulin made 39 saves for the Blackhawks (23-38-11), who have won two in a row since a five-game losing streak.

Steve Yzerman and Pavel Datsyuk scored goals; Jason Williams, Brendan Shanahan, and Tomas Holmstrom had assists; while goaltender Chris Osgood made 31 saves on 34 shots for the Red Wings (50-15-8), who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Detroit, which is aiming for its fifth-straight Central Division crown, leads second-place Nashville by 16 points with nine games to play.

It was Yzerman's 691st career goal.
