CLEVELAND, March 31 (UPI) -- Men's basketball coach Mike Garland of Cleveland State University was fired Friday.
Athletic Director Lee Reed said Garland would not return next season and that a search for his successor will begin immediately.
"I want to thank Mike for the three years of service that he gave to Cleveland State University," Reed said on the league's Web site. "His hard work has helped elevate the program through a very difficult period and put it into a position to find success down the road."
During his three-year tenure, the Vikings had an overall record of just 23-60. They were 10-18 this season and finished in eighth place in the Horizon League with a 5-11 record.
