MIAMI, March 31 (UPI) -- Svetlana Kuznetsova upset world No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo in straight sets on Thursday in the women's semifinals at the NASDAQ-100 Open Tennis Tournament in Miami.
The scores were 6-1, 6-4.

A sluggish Mauresmo committed 22 unforced errors and had no service breaks to three by Kuznetsova.
In Saturday's title match, the 20-year-old Kuznetsova, a former U.S. Open champion, will face fellow Russian Maria Sharapova. With Thursday's win, Kuznetsova improved to 15-4 for the year.
In the final, she and Sharapova will play for a first prize of $533,350.
With the loss, Mauresmo, who has three titles in 2006, dropped to 23-4 overall this season.
