NHL: Detroit 7, Vancouver 3

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 20 (UPI) -- Jason Williams scored two goals Sunday to help Detroit beat the Vancouver Canucks, 7-3, for its sixth straight victory.

Tomas Holstrom, Nicklas Lidstrom, Brendan Shanahan and Johan Frenzen all scored once; Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and two assists; Mark Mowers, Steve Yzerman, Chris Chelios and Mathieu Schneider all had one assist; and goalie Chris Osgood made 21 saves for the Red Wings (47-15-5).

Anson Carter, Markus Naslund and Matt Cooke scored goals; Nolan Baumgartner, Henrik Sedin, Todd Bertuzzi, Ryan Kesler, Brendan Morrison, and Keith Carney assisted once; and goaltender Alexander Auld was able to stop just 21 of the 28 shots he faced for the Canucks (36-27-6).

Vancouver has lost six of its past seven contests.

Detroit out-shot Vancouver, 37-24. On the one-man advantage, the Red Wings went 1-for-11 while the Canucks went 2-for-2.
