COL BKB: Washington 75, Utah State 61

SAN DIEGO, March 17 (UPI) -- Brandon Roy had 28 points and five assists Thursday night as Washington beat Utah State, 75-61, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at San Diego.

Jamaal Williams had 15 points, two rebounds and five steals; Bobby Jones added 11 points, four rebounds and four assists; while Justin Dentmon had 11 points, two rebounds, four assists and two steals for the 5th-seeded Huskies, who improved to 25-6.

Washington will attempt to reach the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive year in Saturday's second round against 4th-seeded Illinois.

Jaycee Carroll had 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists; Nate Harris added 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Chaz Spicer had 12 points, three rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot for the 12th-seeded Aggies, who closed their season with a mark of 23-9.

Utah State easily won the battle of the boards, 32-19.
