Bills sign WR Andre Davis

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., March 12 (UPI) -- The Buffalo Bills Sunday signed free agent wide receiver Andre Davis to a contract. No terms were disclosed.

"We like Andre," said General Manager Marv Levy on the team's Web site. "He's a young player that we feel is on the rise. He's an intelligent man and a guy with a lot of speed."

Davis, a second-round draft pick by Cleveland in 2002 out of Virginia Tech, started four games for the Browns in 2005 and had nine receptions for 190 yards and one touchdown. His per catch average was 21.1 yards. It was 26 yards per reception in 2004, when he became only the tenth player in NFL history to register a 99-yard touchdown reception on Nov. 17 against Cincinnati.

For his career, Davis has 102 receptions for 1,602 yards and 14 touchdowns.

On Saturday, the Bills signed free agent tight end Robert Royal (Washington) and defensive tackle Larry Triplett (Indianapolis).
