COL BKB: Georgetown 67, Notre Dame 63

NEW YORK, March 8 (UPI) -- Brandon Bowman had 25 points and seven rebounds Wednesday as No. 23 Georgetown beat Notre Dame, 67-63.

The victory came in the first round of the Big East Conference basketball tournament at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Ashanti Cook had 14 points, three rebounds and four assists, Jeff Green had 13 points, nine rebounds and two steals, Roy Hibbert 11 rebounds, four assists and blocked four shots and Bowman also had four assists and a block for the fifth-seeded Hoyas (20-8), who have won three of their last four games.

Georgetown rebounded from an embarrassing 63-56 loss to South Florida, which did not qualify for the tournament after winning only one conference game this season.

Colin Falls scored 21 points, Russell Carter added 12 points and four rebounds and Rob Kurz had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the 12th-seeded Fighting Irish (15-13).

Georgetown faces fourth-seeded Marquette in Thursday's quarterfinals.
