RALEIGH, N.C., March 2 (UPI) -- Aaron Ward scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the Carolina Hurricanes beat Boston, 4-3.
Oleg Tverdovsky and Ray Whitney also had goals; Eric Staal, Erik Cole; Rod Brind'Amour; Cory Stillman, Niklas Nordgren, and Doug Weight all had assists; and goaltender Cam Ward made 25 saves for the Hurricanes (40-14-4), who lead the Eastern Conference standings with 84 points after their third win in five games.
Marco Sturm, David Tanabe and Sergei Samsonov had goals; P.J. Axelsson; Travis Green; Brad Boyes; Hal Gill; Glen Murray; and Wayne Primeau had assists; and goalie Tim Thomas allowed four goals on the 29 shots faced for the Bruins (24-25-10), who have lost five of their last six games.
Carolina out-shot Boston 29-28. On the power play, the Hurricanes were 1-for-7; the Bruins went 0-for-5.
