TURIN, Italy, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Highlights from Saturday's action at the Winter Olympics:
-- Germany won five medals -- including golds in the men's 15-kilometer biathlon and four-man bobsled -- to clinch the No. 1 overall medal total for the fourth time in five Olympics. The Germans have 11 gold medals (two more than the United States and Austria) and 29 medals overall (four more than the Americans).
-- Austria concluded its best Winter Games with a sweep of the men's slalom. Benjamin Raich led the way while Americans Bode Miller and Ted Ligety missed a gate in the first run. The United States won only two alpine medals in 10 events.
-- Claudia Pechstein of Germany could have become the first Winter Olympics athlete to win the same individual event in four straight Games, but she finished second to Canada's Clara Hughes by 1.01 seconds in the 5,000-meter speed skating race. Cindy Klassen finished third and thus won a medal in all five speed skating events.
-- South Korean Hyun-Soo Ahn won his two previous individual matchups with American Apolo Anton Ohno at these Olympics. But Ohno got the last laugh by winning the 500-meter sprint.
