ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Safety John Lynch agreed to a contract extension with the Denver Broncos through the 2008 season on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Lynch is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection who will be entering his 14th NFL season and his third year with Denver. He has 1,118 tackles, 26 interceptions, 12 sacks, 92 passes defended, 14 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries in 195 career regular-season games.
The former Stanford star started all 16 games for the Broncos in 2005 and finished second in the league in sacks by a defensive back with four. He also recorded 69 tackles, two interceptions, eight passes defended and four forced fumbles.
Lynch's 12 career playoff starts include his third conference championship game appearance with Denver in 2005 as well as a victory in Super Bowl XXXVII with Tampa Bay.
