COL BKB: Connecticut 81, West Va. 75

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Reserve Rashad Anderson sank three key three-pointers Saturday as top-ranked Connecticut repelled 11th-ranked West Virginia, 81-75.

Josh Boone had 18 points, three rebounds and two assists; Hilton Armstrong added 15 points and three rebounds; Rudy Gay had 14 points, five assists, 12 rebounds and five assists; Anderson scored 11 points and Marcus Williams had eight points and 10 assists for the Huskies (23-2, 10-2 Big East), who averted a two-game skid after losing 69-64 at Villanova on Monday.

Mike Gansey, who sank five three-pointers, scored 25 points; Kevin Pittsnogle added 15 points, three rebounds and two assists; Joe Herber, who scored his 1,000th career point, had 14 points and four rebounds; and Frank Young had 12 points and three rebounds for the Mountaineers (18-7, 9-3), who have lost three of their last four games.

The Huskies easily won the battle of the boards, 39-19.
