NHL: Colorado 4, Columbus 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Marek Svatos scored twice in the third period to lift Colorado past Columbus, 4-1, Friday night.

Peter Budaj made 28 saves for the Avalanche, who won their third straight game. Antti Laaksonen and Brad Richardson also tallied for Colorado.

Jan Hrdina scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, who lost for only the second time in their last eight games. Marc Denis allowed three goals on 26 shots in the loss.

After a scoreless second period with the game tied at 1-1, Svatos gave the Avalanche the lead just 1:07 into the final frame.
