NHL: Atlanta 2, Ottawa 1

OTTAWA, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Ilya Kovalchuk and Andy Sutton both scored power play goals Thursday night to help Atlanta beat the Ottawa Senators, 2-1.

Niclas Havelid and Marc Savard both had two assists and Kari Lehtonen stopped 34 shots, including all 15 he faced in the final period, for the Flames (25-25-6). Atlanta has won only twice in its last 10 games.

Andrej Meszaros scored an unassisted goal in the second period and Dominik Hasek made 20 saves for the Senators (36-13-5).

Ottawa, which has dropped its last two games, out-shot Atlanta, 35-22.

On the power play, the Flames were 2-for-5. The Senators went 0-for-3.
