CINCINNATI, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Wayne Krivsky was named general manager of baseball's Cincinnati Reds Wednesday.
He signed a two-year contract through 2007.
The 51-year-old Krivsky is a 30-year front office veteran in administration, having also worked for Texas and Minnesota. He spent the last 25 years as assistant or special assistant to general managers for the Texas Rangers, Reds and the Minnesota Twins, and has extensive scouting experience.
He represented the Twins organization at all Labor Relations meetings related to salary arbitration and assisted in formulating cases with club counsel. He also advised the Twins' baseball department on waiver rules, rosters and the basic agreement.
The team said Krivsky beat out three current members of its font office -- as well as St. Louis assistant general manager John Mozeliak, Phillies assistant general manager/scouting and player development Mike Arbuckle and Braves vice president/assistant general manager Frank Wren.
