United players refuse TV interviews

MANCHESTER, England, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Manchester United players have refused to give television interviews for one week in support of their captain Gary Neville.

The team is protesting the repeated TV showing of Neville's goal scoring celebrations in the team's 1-0 win over Liverpool, which has raised a controversy.

In the TV clips, Neville was seen to grab his shirt and gesticulate wildly toward Liverpool fans, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The referee did not see Neville's actions but was asked by the Football Association to review the video footage after police expressed concerns about his behavior.

Neville was later charged with improper conduct. He has requested a personal hearing.
