ATLANTA, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Ales Kotalik had a goal and an assist Tuesday as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Atlanta Thrashers, 5-2.

Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville added goals for the Sabres as Buffalo recorded its third straight victory.

Goalie Ryan Miller made 35 saves in the victory.

Marian Hossa and Ronald Petrovicky scored for the Thrashers, who have now lost six in a row.

Kari Lehtonen allowed five goals on 35 shots in defeat.
