NHL: Vancouver 4, Colorado 3 (SO)

DENVER, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Jarkko Ruutu scored the deciding shootout goal and one in regulation time to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.

Mattias Ohlund and Ryan Kesler both scored for the Canucks, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Alexander Auld made 40 saves and stopped all three Colorado shooters in the shootout.

Andrew Brunette had a goal and two assists and Marek Svatos also scored for the Avalanche. David Aebischer made 28 saves in the loss.

Vancouver was held scoreless in its four power play opportunities while the Avalanche went 1-for-7 with the man advantage.
