NHL: Nashville 3, Detroit 2

DETROIT, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Nashville goalie Tomas Vokoun made 39 saves Monday as the Predators defeated the Detroit Red Wings, 3-2.

The game originally started on Nov. 21. The Predators took a 1-0 lead on Greg Johnson's goal. A few minutes later, Detroit's Jiri Fischer collapsed on the bench and so the game was postponed until Monday night.

Because the Predators had the lead and a request that the two sides play a full 60 minutes of hockey, the game started with Nashville ahead 1-0 and a full clock.

Scott Hartnell scored the game-winning goal in the second period for the Predators, who defeated the Red Wings for the first time since Dec. 20, 2003. Steve Sullivan also scored for Nashville, which has won three of its last four games.

Pavel Datsyuk and Mathieu Schneider scored for the Red Wings, who outshot the Predators 41-15 but had a four-game winning streak end.
