COL BKB: Memphis 85, Southern Miss. 68

HATTIESBURG, Miss., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Darius Washington had 20 points and five assists Saturday night to help 4th-ranked Memphis beat Southern Mississippi, 85-68, for its sixth straight victory.

Robert Dozier and Chris Douglas-Roberts both had 14 points and five rebounds, Rodney Carney scored 11 points and reserve Shawne Washington had nine points and four rebounds for the Tigers (17-2, 3-0 C-USA).

Jarekus Singleton had 19 points and four rebounds; Courtney Beasley had 16 points and four rebounds; and Mildon Ambres added 10 points and three rebounds for the Golden Eagles (7-12, 1-3 C-USA), who have suffered five losses in their last six games.

Memphis won the battle of the boards, 30-25. Both teams committed 12 turnovers.
