COL BKB: Connecticut 71, Louisville 58

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Marcus Williams had 15 points, five assists and three rebounds Saturday to help third-ranked Connecticut beat No. 15 Louisville, 69-58.

Rudy Gay had 12 points, six rebounds and three assists; Josh Boone had 10 points and seven rebounds; and Jeff Adrien added nine points and 12 rebounds for the Huskies (16-1, 4-1 Big East), who shot 51 percent from the floor, made 19-of-23 free throws and out-rebounded the Cardinals, 39-25.

David Padgett, a transfer from Kansas, had 27 points and eight rebounds and Terrence Williams had 10 points, eight rebounds and two assists for the Cardinals (13-5, 1-4 Big East), who played and lost their third straight game without leading scorer Taquan Dean, who sat out the contest because of an ankle injury. It also was the third straight game that Louisville scored less than 60 points.

Padgett and Williams were the only Cardinal players to reach double figures.
