NBA: New Jersey 97, Indiana 92

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Vince Carter had 24 points, six assists and five rebounds Monday to lead the New Jersey Nets to a 97-92 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Jason Kidd added 23 points and 10 assists for the Nets, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Nenad Krstic had 20 points in the win.

Richard Jefferson returned to the lineup after missing three games with back spasms to help snap the skid. He added 11 points and 10 rebounds in 40-plus minutes.

Austin Croshere scored 17 points with 10 rebounds for the Pacers, who were without Jermaine O'Neal. The star forward missed the contest because of an ankle sprain.

Anthony Johnson and Fred Jones each scored 16 points as Indiana lost for the third time in its last five games.
