AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- LaMarcus Aldridge totaled 19 points, five rebounds and five blocked shots Saturday as ninth-ranked Texas got by No. 3 Villanova, 58-55.
Kenton Paulino added 13 points and eight boards while Daniel Gibson recorded 10 points and six rebounds for the Longhorns (14-2), who have won seven in a row since a two-game losing streak in early December.
Kyle Lowry collected 13 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds and both Allan Ray and Randy Foye added 13 points for the Wildcats (11-2), who suffered the second loss in their last three games.
Villanova was plagued by poor three-point shooting, making only seven of 30 three-point attempts (23 percent). The Longhorns were not much better, going 4-for-14 on treys for 28 percent.
Both squads had 36 rebounds.
