COL BKB: Syracuse 88, Notre Dame 82

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Syracuse's Gerry McNamara scored a game-high 25 points to lead the visiting Orange to an 88-82 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a Big East match.

Eric Devendorf added a career-high 22 points for the Orange (14-2, 2-0 Big East), who won their 11th straight game. Demetris Nichols chipped in with 16 points, while Darryl Watkins pitched in with 10 points, a game-high 14 rebounds and six blocked shots.

For Notre Dame, Colin Falls scored 18 points and handed out nine assists. Russell Carter and Rob Kurz each netted 15 points, while Torin Francis added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Quinn contributed 12 points and nine assists in the loss.

Syracuse outscored Notre Dame 18-12 from the free throw line.
