COL BKB: Connecticut 70, Cincinnati 59

HARTFORD, Conn., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Hilton Armstrong had 14 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots Monday to lead the No. 4 Connecticut Huskies over the Cincinnati Bearcats, 70-59.

Denham Brown, Rudy Gay and Marcus Williams each scored 11 points for Connecticut (13-1, 1-1 Big East).

James White led all scorers with 18 points and Eric Hicks and Armein Kirkland each added 14 for Cincinnati (13-3, 2-1), which had a 10-game winning streak snapped. Hicks also had 11 rebounds.

Trailing by four at the half, Cincinnati scored the first four points of the second half for a 37-37 tie. The UConn Huskies pulled out in front again, but a three from White tied the game at 44-44 with 15:47 left.

The Huskies went on a 6-0 run paced by back-to-back jumpers by Armstrong to push the lead to 50-44 with under 13 minutes left.
