Federer wins again at Qatar

DOHA, Qatar, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- World No. 1 Roger Federer was an easy winner Friday over Tommy Haas, 6-3, 6-3, in the semifinals of the Qatar Open at Doha.

Federer took control with a service break for a 4-2 lead in the second set and closed out the victory with a service ace.

In winning his ninth straight match at Doha, Federer, 24, set up a title match Saturday against Gael Monfils, who beat Filippo Volandri, 6-3, 6-4, in Friday's other semifinal. Monfils recorded two key service breaks in the closing set.

The winner Saturday will claim $142,000.
