GLENDALE, Ariz., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Keith Ballard scored two goals, including the winner in overtime, as Phoenix beat Los Angeles, 6-5.
Paul Mara added two goals and Curtis Joseph stopped 35 shots for Phoenix, which has won four of its last five games.

Derek Armstrong had a hat trick and Jason LaBarbera saved 20-of-26 shots for Los Angeles.
With the score knotted at 5-5, Mike Ricci dumped the puck into the zone for Ballard, who beat the defense down the ice and unleashed a shot from the slot to win the game with 3:52 elapsed in overtime.
