NHL: Pittsburgh 6, New Jersey 2

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Prized rookie Sidney Crosby registered two goals and one assist Thursday night to help Pittsburgh beat the New Jersey Devils, 6-2, ending a six-game skid.

Tomas Surovy added two goals; Ziggy Palffy recorded three assists; Maxime Talbot had two assists; Erik Christensen, John LeClair, Ryan Whitney and Ric Jackman all assisted once; and goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made 44 saves for the Penguins (19-19-8).

Scott Gomez scored two goals; Jamie Langenbrunner, Brian Rafalski, Zach Parise and Paul Martin each had one assist; and goalie Scott Clemmensen made 19 saves for New Jersey, which has dropped four of its last five games.

The Devils out-shot Pittsburgh by a wide 46-25 margin. New Jersey went 1-for-8 on the power play, while the Penguins were 1-for-4.
