NHL: Boston 4, Washington 3 (OT)

WASHINGTON, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Brad Stuart scored at 2:03 into overtime Tuesday to give the Boston Bruins a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals.

Glen Murray and Marco Sturm each had a goal and an assist for the Bruins, who won for the third time in their last five games. Sergei Samsonov also scored for Boston. Hannu Toivonen allowed three goals on just 18 shots faced for the win.

Alexander Ovechkin, Mathieu Biron and Chris Clark all scored for the Capitals, who failed in their attempt to record a three-game winning streak for the first time this season. Washington has not won three straight games since Jan. 10-13, 2003 -- a span of 154 games.
