NFL: Washington 24, St. Louis 9

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Clinton Portis rushed 27 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns Sunday to lead the Washington Redskins to a 24-9 victory over the St. Louis Rams.

Portis reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the fourth consecutive season.

Rock Cartwright added 118 yards on nine carries for the Redskins (6-6), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Mark Brunell was 14-of-21 for 156 yards with a touchdown.

Torry Holt caught six passes for 75 yards for the Rams (5-7), who lost for the third time in their last four games. Holt now has six straight seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, in his first NFL start, was 21-of-36 with an interception and a rushing touchdown.
