Beckett trade to Red Sox held up

BOSTON, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- The trade of Florida right-hander Josh Beckett to Boston is on hold through the Thanksgiving holiday because he has not been notified.

The two teams agreed to the deal on Monday. It would send both Beckett and third baseman Mike Lowell to the Red Sox for prospects -- shortstop Hanley Ramirez and pitchers Anibal Sanchez and Jesus Delgado. It has been delayed because the Red Sox did not get the extensive medical records on either player they wanted on Wednesday.

"Nobody has called me, I have no news," Beckett told WHDH-TV in Boston. "All I know is what I've heard from friends."

Beckett has been on the disabled list nine times in his career, six times because of blisters on his pitching hand. He is 41-34 with a 3.46 ERA in 106 games.

Lowell, 31, has a career .272 batting average. In 2005, he hit just .236 with eight homers and 58 RBI in 150 games.
