Gado receives NFC weekly player honor

NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Green Bay running back Samkon Gado Wednesday was named NFC Offensive Player of Week 10.

Gado, an undrafted free agent out of Liberty University, is getting a chance to be the Packers chief running back because of injuries to Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport. The Nigerian native ran for 103 yards on 25 carries for two touchdowns and added a touchdown reception in the Packers' 33-25 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Also named were strong safety Darren Sharper of Minnesota (defense), and cornerback Nathan Vasher of the Chicago Bears (special teams). Sharper, who spent eight seasons with Green Bay before joining Minnesota as a free agent in the off-season, tied a Vikings' franchise record with three interceptions in one game as Minnesota beat the New York Giants, 24-21.

Vasher returned a missed field goal 108 yards for a touchdown on the longest play in the NFL's 86-year history, helping Chicago beat San Francisco, 17-9.
