Indiana cage star sidelined indefinitely

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Indiana forward D.J. White will be sidelined indefinitely with a broken left foot.

Coach Mike Davis, in making the announcement Tuesday, said White, a sophomore, had an MRI exam Monday that revealed the extent of the injury. He could be out for at least six weeks.

"D.J. is one of the best players in not only the Big Ten, but in the country," said Davis. "He has been playing terrific basketball, and we are going to miss him. At the same time, we also have the depth and talent inside to help fill his void."

White was last season's Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He is Indiana's top returning scorer and rebounder after averaging 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds per game and 2.2 blocks per game last season. He led all Big Ten freshman in scoring, field goal percentage and blocked shots.
