NHL: Washington 5, Toronto 4

WASHINGTON, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Alex Ovechkin scored two goals Sunday night as the Washington Capitals beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 5-4.

Bryan Muir added a goal and an assist, Jeff Halpern had two assists, Mathieu Biron, Brendan Witt, and Steve Eminger all had one assist, and Olaf Kolzig made 26 saves for the Capitals (6-8-0). Washington recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season after its 3-2 win over the Atlanta Flames on Friday.

Jeff O'Neill scored twice, Bryan McCabe and Kyle Wellwood each recorded a goal and an assist, both Alexander Khavanov and Mats Sundin had two assists, and goalie Mikael Tellqvist made 28 saves for Toronto (7-6-2). Washington out-shot the Maple Leafs, 33-30. The Capitals were 3-for-8 on the power play while Toronto was 1-for-7.
