Edwards wins again in the Nextel Cup chase

FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Carl Edwards won Sunday's Dickies 500 Nextel Cup race at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

His No.99 Roush Racing Ford crossed the finish line 0.584 seconds ahead of teammates Mark Martin and Matt Kenseth.

It was Edwards' second win in a row and fourth of the season.

Martin was second followed by Kenseth, Casey Mears and Jimmie Johnson, who finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Tony Stewart (sixth), Denny Hamlin (seventh), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (eight), Elliot Sadler (ninth) and Kurt Busch (tenth) rounded out the top 10.

Stewart will go to Arizona next Sunday week with a 38-point lead over Johnson in the chase for the Nextel Cup points title (6,255-6,217).

The ninth of 10 races to determine the champion will be held at the Phoenix International Raceway.
