NHL: Montreal 3, Buffalo 2

BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Niklas Sundstrom scored the game-winning goal Friday night as Montreal edged the Buffalo Sabres, 3-2.

Both Michael Ryder and Alexander Perezhogin scored once, Steve Begin, Francois Bouillon, Mathieu Dendenault, Christopher Higgins, Andrei Markov, and Mike Ribeiro all had one assist, and Yann Danis made 24 saves for Montreal (10-3-1), which has a three-game winning streak.

Rory Fitzpatrick and Adam Mair scored goals, Maxim Afinogenov, Thomas Vanek, Ales Kotalik, and Paul Gaustad had assists, and goaltender Martin Biron made 28 saves on 31 shots for Buffalo (7-6-0), which has lost two in a row and four of its last five games.

The Canadiens out-shot the Sabres, 31-26. Buffalo was 1-for-5 on the power play while Montreal went 0-for-7.
