LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Shawn Marion had 30 points and 11 rebounds Thursday night as Phoenix downed the Los Angeles Lakers, 122-112, spoiling the home opener for Coach Phil Jackson.
Steve Nash contributed 12 points and 17 assists, and James Jones scored 17 points for the Suns (1-1), who bounced back from a season-opening loss to Dallas in double overtime on Tuesday with their fifth win a row over the Lakers, who for just the second time in their last 14 home openers.
Kobe Bryant, who continued his opening-week scoring binge, had 39 points, seven rebounds and five assists for Los Angeles (1-1). Bryant scored 33 points in an overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
Lamar Odom added 23 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists, and Smush Parker scored 21 points.
