Roddick wins the title at Lyon

LYON, France, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Andy Roddick beat Gael Monfils in Sunday's final of the Lyon Tennis Grand Prix in France.

The scores were 6-3, 6-2.

Roddick, who has won five titles in 2005, was never threatened by the popular French teenager and never lost a set in this tournament. He entered this event with three straight losses, including consecutive early exits at the Madrid Masters and the U.S. Open.

Roddick earns $115,000 for the 20th singles crown of his career. He previously won this year at San Jose, Houston, Queen's Club and Washington and will be the top seed for next week's Paris Masters.

The 19-year-old Monfils was appearing in his third career final, all this year. He won at Sopot and lost earlier this month in Metz.

The pair could meet again next week. They draw has them scheduled for the third round if they get that far.
