Pistons extend Prince contract

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The Detroit Pistons extended forward Tayshaun Prince's contract Monday for a reported $45 million to $50 million over five years.

"We are very pleased to have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Tayshaun Prince," said Pistons President Joe Dumars. "I'm pleased that he will continue to wear a Pistons' uniform through the 2010-11 season."

In three NBA seasons, all with Detroit, Prince was a key contributor to the team that reached consecutive NBA Finals and won the 2003-04 championship.

Prince, 24, averaged 14.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists while starting in all 82 games last season. He has career averages of 10.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
