Roddick makes Lyon final

LYON, France, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Andy Roddick and Gael Monfils are headed for the final Sunday at the $818,000 Lyon Tennis Grand Prix tennis tournament in France.

Roddick, a former world No. 1 and the top seed at Lyon, beat Fabrice Santoro, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), in one semifinal mastch Saturday. The un-seeded Monfils topped Sebastien Grosjean, 6-4, 7-5, in the other semifinal.

The 32-year-old Santoro was the Lyon champion in 1997.

Roddick -- who came into this tournament with three straight losses, including a first-round setback at the U.S. Open -- will compete in his sixth ATP singles final of 2005. He won crowns at Houston, London/Queens Club, San Jose and Washington.

Roddick, who lost to world No. 1 Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final, will be in search of his 20th career title.

Monfils, 19, will be competing in his third career ATP singles final. He is 1-1 in title matches.

Sunday's winner will collect $115,000.
