TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Drew Weatherford threw for 264 yards and one touchdown Saturday as ninth-ranked Florida State beat Maryland, 35-27.
Willie Reid had seven catches for 90 yards and returned a punt for a score and Lorenzo Booker had 60 yards on 14 carries. Weatherford went 27-of-37 passing with two interceptions, and also ran for a touchdown for Florida State (7-1, 5-1 ACC), which has won two in a row since its loss to Virginia.
With the victory, the Seminoles have moved within one win of a berth in the first-ever ACC title game in Jacksonville.
Joel Statham was 15-of-29 for 177 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for the Terrapins (4-4, 2-3 ACC). Lance Ball rushed for 120 yards on 21 carries and both Jo Jo Walker and Derrick Fenner caught scoring passes. Maryland has dropped two straight.
