NHL: San Jose 5, Dallas 4 (OT)

DALLAS, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Patrick Marleau scored a breakaway goal in overtime Wednesday night as San Jose beat the Dallas Stars, 5-4.

Just before the game-winner, goaltender Nolan Schaefer made a stop on a point-blank shot. Marleau fired a shot past Dallas goalie Marty Turco with 1:40 left in the extra session for the Sharks (4-5-1).

Marco Sturm and Jonathan Cheechoo each had a goal and one assist, and Schaefer had 12 saves. San Jose won for the first time at Dallas since Dec. 17, 2001.

The Sharks outshot the Stars, 41-23, and were 1-for-6 on the power play.

Jussi Jokinen scored twice and had two assists, Jere Lehtinen also had two assists, Trevor Daley scored once and Turco made 36 saves for the Stars, who fell to 5-4-0.

Dallas was 0-for-4 on the power play.
