Dolphins place Tebucky Jones on IR

DAVIE, Fla., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Strong safety Tebucky Jones of the Miami Dolphins has been placed on the injured reserved list because of surgery on a pectoral muscle.

The season-ending surgery, near the right side of his chest, was done on Sunday and was necessary after the muscle was torn in last Friday's 30-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones, 31, was in his first season with the Dolphins. He registered 39 tackles and two sacks in six games.

In 109 career games with New England, New Orleans and the Dolphins, the 6-foot-2 inch, 218-pound Jones, who was a first-round draft pick by the Patriots in 1998 out of Syracuse, has recorded 345 tackles and six interceptions. He signed as a free agent last off-season.

In other roster moves, Miami has signed safety Norman LeJeune and fullback Darian Barnes. To make room on the 53-man roster, they waived fullback Heath Evans.
