NHL: Atlanta 4, New Jersey 3

ATLANTA, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Ronald Petrovicky scored two late goals Saturday night to help Atlanta beat New Jersey, 4-3.

Marc Savard had a goal and two assists, Peter Bondra also had two assists, Ilya Kovalchuck had one assist, and goalie Adam Berkhoel registered his first career NHL win with 32 saves on the 35 shots he faced.

The Thrashers (3-5-0) went 1-for-7 on the power play while holding the Devils to 0-for-6.

John Madden had two tallies and Sergei Brylin had the other goal for New Jersey (4-4-0). Goalie Martin Brodeur made 24 saves.

New Jersey out-shot the Flames, 35-28.
