Hamlin, who has retained a lawyer, calls the accusation slander, the Seattle Times reports.

Police said conflicting or missing accounts of the event make piecing the story together difficult.

The incident began at Larry's Nightclub close to 2 a.m. Monday in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle, Members of the team were celebrating Sunday's victory over the Houston Texans.

Camera's at the club show 24-year-old Hamlin in a fight, but it isn't clear if it was initiated by him, self-defense or protection one of his brothers, who was at the club with him.

Hamlin did wind up unconscious with severe injuries. He was moved from intensive care to a private room at Harborview Medical Center, suffering from a skull fracture, broken hand and blood clot on the brain.

Milam, 31, was identified by family viewing the camera's as being in the vicinity of the fight, which happened outside the club, but it isn't clear what role he played.
