PITTSBURGH, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Rashean Mathis scored on a 41-yard interception return in overtime Sunday as Jacksonville beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 23-17.
Quarterback Byron Leftwich went 19-of-35 passing for 177 yards, one touchdown, and one interception and Greg Jones, playing in place of the injured Fred Taylor, gained 77 yards and scored once. Reggie Williams added three catches for 50 yards.
Veteran Tommy Maddox, who gave up the game-winning pick, went only 11-of-28 passing for 154 yards, one score and three interceptions. Maddox, who was playing for the injured Ben Roethlisberger, also lost a fumble at the start of the overtime after a 74-yard kickoff return by Quincy Morgan.
Rookie tight end Heath Miller had four catches for 72 yards and one touchdown, Antwaan Randle El added a 72-yard punt return for a touchdown, and Willie Parker gained 55 yards as the Steelers dropped to 3-2.
The Jaguars improved to 4-2.
