DETROIT, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Chris Weinke threw a game-winning touchdown pass Sunday as Carolina edged the Detroit Lions, 21-20.
Weinke, subbing for an injured Jake Delhomme, was 5-of-7 for 47 yards. He was playing in his first game in two years.
Wide receiver Steve Smith had six catches for 123 yards and one touchdown. Delhomme went 15-of-25 for 236 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions -- two of which were returned for touchdowns.
In the defensive tussle, the Lions held Stephen Davis to only 27 yards on 13 carries.
For Detroit (2-3), Joey Harrington went 17-of-28 passing for 201 yards, no touchdowns and one interception, while Marcus Pollard made three receptions for 105 yards.
Shaun Rogers partially blocked a field goal attempt, giving him eight for his career.
Carolina is 4-2 after its second straight come from behind victory.
